Podium Therapies is being published!

dissertation cover

Last month, I had the pleasure of opening an email that read the following:

"Dear Dr. Phelps, on behalf of the MDS Congress Scientific Program Committee (CSPC), we are pleased to inform you that your abstract, Evaluating the Effect of Myofascial Release on Parkinson's Related Tremor, has been accepted for publication and presentation at the International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders®, in Philadelphia, PA, USA from September 27 – October 1, 2024."

Now firstly, I did point out to them that I was not a Doctor, but, more importantly, the last three years of hard work and my last year doing my research project and dissertation has paid off! So, I have been invited to the International Congress of Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders, in Philadelphia to present my research in the form of a poster presentation. Podium Therapies is off to Philadelphia!

I am now working on a presentation poster 2.5m wide and 1.5m high that incorporates all the research and exciting bits from my dissertation. My abstract, baseline research and method, results and conclusions, and my surprise result will be featured in Philadelphia Conference Centre this September!

I am one of very few massage therapists to ever publish in another country, and my work will be published in an online supplement to Movement Disorders, the official Journal of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society, and in the searchable MDS abstract website, www.mdsabstracts.org from September 30th, 2024. Not only that, but the International Therapist magazine and Massage World magazine have asked me to feature in both, talking through my research project!

Keep an eye on my Facebook, Instagram, and this new blog page over the next few months, for updates and exciting news from Philadelphia!
